Oregon Aviation Plan (OAP) Public Hearing
Good afternoon,
The Oregon Department of Aviation will be holding a board meeting Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the OAMA/ODA Spring Conference at the Salem Convention Center located in Salem, Oregon. The Aviation Board is a seven member body that gives policy guidance and oversight to the Oregon Department of Aviation. Public hearing for the Oregon Aviation Plan (OAP) is scheduled as item 7 during the State Aviation Board Agenda, attached.
The board will provide time during the public hearing, item 7, for members of the public to provide comment about the Oregon Aviation Plan (OAP) to the board. Individuals who would like to speak must sign the public comment sign-in form at the meeting and are limited to 2 minutes per speaker. The board may discontinue the public forum after a reasonable time if there are a large number of speakers.
SUMMARY
The Oregon Department of Aviation is responsible for the Oregon Aviation Plan (OAP) which is to plan the system of airports which are vital to Oregon’s economic development by providing safe and efficient access to the State’s communities, businesses, recreational areas, and natural resources. Oregon’s systems of airports connect people and goods at local, national, and global levels by a wide range of aircraft types; this connectivity is critical to Oregon’s economy. The OAP also identifies the airport’s role in the safety and welfare of residents, businesses, and visitors. The OAP provides guidance on preserving the state’s system of airports and presents a framework for improving the system for continued support of communities and economic development.
