OKLAHOMA CITY - The 40th annual Oklahoma Governor's Water Conference and Research Symposium will be held on December 4-5 at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City, Ok.   The conference and symposium annually attracts hundreds of water planning officials, industry representatives, state and local officials, and citizens who share a stake in Oklahoma's water resources management, development, and protection.  The conference theme this year, "Water Means Business," represents the importance that Oklahoma's water resources and infrastructure plays in the economic prosperity and growth of the state.

Agenda

Conference keynote speakers include Oklahoma Governor J. Kevin Stitt; Dean Amhaus, President & CEO The Water Council in Milwaukee; Oklahoma Secretary of Energy & Environment Kenneth Wagner; Oklahoma State University Dean of Agriculture Dr. Thomas Coon; Kevin Moran, Senior Director of the Colorado River Program at the Environmental Defense Fund; and Dr. Joan Rose, the Homer Nowlin Chair in Water Research at Michigan State University.

This year will also mark the 14th time the conference has been paired with an academic research symposium organized by the Oklahoma Water Resources Center at Oklahoma State University. The symposium will feature presentations by students and professionals on a wide variety of water-related topics as well as a research poster presentation event. Both the conference and symposium offer moderated sessions on water-related policy and technical issues from a wide-ranging field of expert panelists and speakers.

Finally, the conference awards program will feature both the Oklahoma Water Pioneer Awards and the Oklahoma Water for 2060 Excellence Awards.  The Oklahoma Water Pioneer Award was initiated in 1985 to honor the men and women who have made significant contributions in the planning, development, management, and conservation of Oklahoma's water resources.

The Oklahoma Water for 2060 Excellence Awards were established in 2017 to recognize individuals and entities annually that have developed outstanding water saving measures in three categories— Public Water Supply, Energy/Industry, and Crop Irrigation/Agriculture Production. Recipients of the awards will be recognized during special ceremonies at the conference.
