TSET Discovery Grants, totaling a combined $5.2 million, were awarded to seven Oklahoma agencies: Gateway to Prevention and Recovery, Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Center, Inc., the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Breastfeeding Resource Center, Oklahoma State University and Youth and Family Resource Center.
“The seven Discovery grants awarded today came out of 46 submissions in the request-for-proposals period,” said TSET Executive Director Julie Bisbee. “The scope of these projects will increase wellness for people from infancy and youth through older age, and we look forward to the positive results that will come from them.”

Perspective: Julie Bisbee in the Journal Record
March is National Nutrition Month, making this a good time to consider how nutrition affects our communities. It is far too easy to forget that having access to healthy foods is no sure thing for many Oklahomans.
Steps are being taken to address this disparitie. Farmers markets, a produce voucher program and the end of the grocery sales tax are efforts to make healthy eating possible for all Oklahomans.

The TSET Better Health Podcast, scheduled for release on March 29, will focus on the rise of youth vaping and efforts that are underway to reduce it. State Rep. Cynthia Roe, R-Lindsay, speaks on her bills to reduce youth access to vape products, and two high school students discuss how and why teens vape. Kelli Brodersen, director of TSET Strategic Communication, will describe new ad campaigns that speak to youth about the dangers of vaping and how to quit when they are ready.
"Vaping is new enough that we don't really know yet what the long-term health consequences are," said Roe. "I think by catching these kids earlier, we can hopefully reduce some of the long-term healthcare issues that they may have."
The podcast is available on TSET's website and everywhere podcasts are listened to: Spotify, TuneIn, Stitcher, PodBean, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts.
