TSET Partners to Place Physicians in Underserved Areas of Oklahoma
TSET's partnership with the Physician Manpower Training Commission (PMTC) has filled all 42 slots in its Physician Loan Repayment Program, helping to improve local health care access by attracting physicians to rural and underserved areas in Oklahoma. Physicians commit to practicing four years in the communities, and in turn, the program helps each physician repay up to $200,000 of medical school student loans.
“TSET’s board committed to funding this program with the goal of attracting and keeping physicians to help address Oklahoma's physician shortage and support increased access to primary care and preventive screenings,” said Julie Bisbee, executive director of TSET. “It's working. TSET’s mission-driven support of rural physician access is an investment in communities across the state and is vital to the long-term health of every Oklahoman.”
