Inspiring Youth: TSET Initiative Goes Live

The TSET Healthy Youth Initiative kicked off Aug. 3. The multifaceted statewide media campaign addresses vape and tobacco use as well as obesity among Oklahoma youth ages 13-18. Messaging launched first on social and digital media because that's primarily where youth search for information and engage with content. Watch the ads now! TV, cable and radio spots started airing Aug. 24 and will run through the first of September.

Older Adults Stay Fit with Tai Chi

TSET awarded a grant to the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI) for its Tai Chi-A-Thon held earlier this month. The virtual event drew over 100 supporters.

Paula Cockrell, OHAI program manager, said response has been positive to both virtual events and classes. "We have had a great response to our Facebook Live and Zoom classes. We have even been able to reach participants from other states and countries on Facebook Live," she said.

Cockrell shared that a participant called the tai chi classes "a lifesaver" as she cannot return to the gym because of COVID-19. OHAI has scheduled its next Tai Chi-A-Thon during Falls Prevention Awareness Week in September 2021. Check out OHAI on Facebook
