Yesterday, the Office of Management and Enterprise Services implemented a new Windows update. This update, known as Windows Hello for Business, increases account security.
Windows Hello for Business allows you to access your Windows 10/11 Service Oklahoma device using a PIN. After successful login, you may be requested to set up a PIN.
Setting up a PIN:
- The PIN must be at least 8-digits in length and can be numbers only or alphanumeric.
- If you are using a numeric PIN, a sequence of numbers that increases or decreases by a set count is not allowed. For example:
- 11111111 or 88888888 would not work as the difference between each number is 0.
- 12345678 or 87654321 would not work as the difference between each number is 1.
- 13579135 or 24680246 would not work as the difference between each number is 2.
- If there is no repeating count or pattern, or letters are included, the PIN can be used.
- PINs do not expire.
- Note, the Windows Hello PIN is tied to a single device and does not move with the employee’s login on other devices (e.g., conference rooms or usage of other devices).
After the update, if your device requests a USB security key upon login, please visit the site and create an incident.
