Here’s your weekly press recap highlighting the news you need to know.

 REAL ID
According to The Oklahoman and Examiner Enterprise, 2% of those flying out of the Oklahoma City airport did not have their REAL ID last weekend, May 10 and May 11. The state has a 45.42% compliance rate, with 3.4 million active credentials.
A REAL ID, or similar TSA compliant identification like a passport, is required to fly within the U.S. Those without a REAL ID will undergo extra TSA screening. It's not too late to get your gold-star credential. You can book an after-hours appointment at select locations.
Legislation
This week Gov. Kevin Stitt signed into law legislation that, effective in 2026, extends inmates licenses six months following their release. KOCO 5 reports the law requires Service Oklahoma to mail a new license to inmates following their release.
CDL Testing Enhancements
Several months ago Service Oklahoma announced testing enhancements for Commercial Driver License (CDL) applicants. The Hugo News reported that the new CDL Modernized Skills Test will provide a more streamlined, transparent and efficient process for CDL applications. CDL participants can expect a more predictable testing process, which replaces the previous system where users were required to prepare for multiple versions of a test even though they would only take one. Those wishing to take a CDL can follow three steps: obtaining a Commercial Learner Permit, scheduling your drive test appointment and preparing for the CDL test. For more details on CDL testing and preparation, visit service.ok.gov/CDL.
