Your weekly update on all things REAL ID—from statewide progress to helpful tools and campaign updates.
With just under two weeks until the federal enforcement deadline, momentum continues to build. Thanks to your efforts across the state, more Oklahomans are learning what REAL ID is, how to get it and why it matters. Every after-hours appointment, every customer conversation and every use of the online REAL ID Checklist moves us forward.

TSA Enforcement Reminder Starting May 7, 2025, TSA will require a REAL ID or another accepted form of ID, like a valid passport, at all airport security checkpoints. Travelers without an acceptable ID may face delays, extra screening or be turned away.
TSA is coordinating with airports to reduce disruptions, but this process should not be considered a backup plan for same-day travel. REAL ID will also be required to enroll in TSA PreCheck and CLEAR beginning May 7.
What Oklahomans Need to Know REAL ID is not required for all Oklahoma residents. It’s only needed for air travel or access to certain federal buildings after May 7. Standard licenses still work for driving or general identification.
Encourage customers to:
- Check for the gold star on their license
- Use the REAL ID Checklist to prepare
- Bring the right documents including proof of identity, two proofs of Oklahoma residency and any name change or legal presence documents
- Visit service.ok.gov/REALID to get all the important details
Campaign Corner: “No, Really” Is Live Our public awareness campaign is now on airwaves, billboards and soon, tv screens. The message is simple—the May 7 REAL ID enforcement deadline is real and Oklahomans need to plan ahead. Let us know if you spot the billboards or hear the radio ads. We love seeing the impact in action.
We’ll be back next week with more updates. In the meantime, head to the REAL ID Hub on the intranet for everything you need to stay informed and ready.
Let’s keep it going—No, Really.
