We’re excited to bring you Volume 1, Issue 4 of the BOOST Report—your go-to source for updates on Project BOOST, Oklahoma’s next-generation driver license system.
Transitioning into Development
With the Definition phase of development concluded, the team is shifting its focus to configuring the platform’s core functionality. This stage lays the foundation for a smooth transition into the comprehensive testing phase, which is set to begin in August.
Every step brings us closer to a system designed to enhance efficiency, security and convenience for Oklahomans. Read on for more details, and as always, share your feedback and questions here.

Development Progress
With over 200 in-person meetings since August, teams have been meeting five to 10 times a week to define every detail of BOOST. This collaborative work brought together 50 FAST employees and 50 Service Oklahoma team members from across the agency.
Beyond the internal effort, the team has worked with 20+ partner agencies to define system integrations, ensuring data flows smoothly from day one. We’re also preparing for the State to State (S2S) and NRII transition, with testing kicking off this May.
A major focus is on data conversion, where the team is conducting 20 mock runs—trial runs before the actual conversion—to ensure clean, accurate data. We’re currently on our third mock run, meeting twice weekly for data purification and working to merge more than 100,000 records ahead of go-live.
Testing, Training & What's Next
One of our top priorities is ensuring that teams are ready to work confidently in the new system from day one. That means hands-on training, robust testing and early data verification to support a seamless transition.
-
Data Verification begins in May with a small group and expands in August.
-
BOOST Roadshow will take place over the summer with FAST Staff traveling the state to ensure staff from all over will get to check out the new system.
-
Train-the-Trainer starts in June with 10–12 trainers learning the system in-depth
-
Testing starts in August and continues through rollout, including real scenarios and mobile compatibility.
While we aim to keep training, testing and data verification roles distinct, some flexibility may be needed. We’ll continue to share updates as plans evolve.
Introducing Gear Shifts
As BOOST rolls out, some changes will have a bigger impact on how we work. We’re calling these Gear Shifts—key updates to the processes, policies and tools we use every day. These aren’t small tweaks. Gear Shifts reflect the larger process changes identified during Definition meetings that will go into effect when BOOST goes live.
Throughout this phase, we’ve taken a hard and honest look at how things work today and where we can make meaningful improvements. The result? A system built to reduce friction, improve accuracy and make everyday tasks more efficient for staff, our partners and the Oklahomans we serve.
We’ll be highlighting Gear Shifts regularly in the BOOST Report—breaking down what’s changing and what it means for you.
Spotlight Gear Shift: Online Renewals, Reimagined
One of the most noticeable improvements coming with BOOST is a simpler, faster online renewal and replacement process for driver licenses and ID cards.
What’s changing:
- No more selfie submission for online transactions
- BOOST will use two-factor authentication and identifying information to securely confirm identity.
- Customers will securely receive a printable temporary credential to use immediately while they wait for their new card to arrive.
- Customers will be able to log in and view their license status anytime.
This change maintains strong security while making online services easier and faster for customers. It also reduces the number of steps staff need to take behind the scenes, freeing up time and resources.
And the best part? These changes are designed to improve the experience without creating confusion or extra burden for our team You’ll see more Gear Shifts like this in future issues, so stay tuned!
Booster Club Updates
The Booster Club is made up of team members from across Service Oklahoma who serve as early testers, change champions and trusted messengers throughout the BOOST rollout. Their mission is to explore the system firsthand, gather real feedback from the team and help prepare staff for what’s ahead.
By offering practical insights and surfacing questions early, Booster Club members play a vital role in ensuring a smoother transition. They’re also your go-to resource for updates, support and system previews as we move toward go-live.
We’re excited to introduce Ed Ward, our new Booster Club Chairman. With over a decade of experience in driver license services, Ed brings a deep understanding of frontline operations and a passion for supporting teams through change. Here’s what he had to say:
"Many of you already know me, but for those who don’t—hello! I understand the anxiety and apprehension that can come with transitioning to a new licensing system. What excites me most about BOOST is its user-friendly design and more intuitive workflow. In our numerous meetings with FAST, we’ve worked together to create a system that’s significantly improved the overall experience for both staff and customers.
During my visits around the state, I’ve been sharing information about BOOST and addressing any questions you may have. To further this effort, we’re working to give Booster Club members access to the testing environment so they can begin exploring BOOST firsthand. This will allow them to share their observations and gather feedback from frontline employees. Your input is invaluable to us in ensuring that we make BOOST the best it can be."
If you have questions, suggestions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to a Booster Club member. They’re here to help you feel confident and ready for what’s ahead.
