Don't Wait Until Summer to Prepare for Summer Travels With the federal REAL ID deadline fast approaching, Service Oklahoma CEO Jay Doyle sat down with KFOR-TV this week to discuss the importance of getting the credential sooner rather than later.
“If you don’t have a REAL ID yet and you’re planning to take a trip in the next year, come and get one as soon as you possibly can," Jay said.
That's because starting May 7 of this year, a standard Driver License or State ID Card may no longer be accepted at TSA checkpoints for domestic flights. Instead, Oklahomans 18 and older will need a REAL ID to fly within the country (unless they have an unexpired U.S. passport or another acceptable form of ID). A REAL ID will also be needed to visit federal facilities, including military bases.
KFOR informed its viewers to use Service Oklahoma's REAL ID Checklist to ensure they have all the required documents before heading to any of the 270 SOK and Licensed Operator locations to apply for their REAL IDs.
Meanwhile, the Radio Oklahoma News Network also interviewed Service Oklahoma this week about how to apply for a REAL ID and The Oklahoman published a piece about the upcoming deadline.
