 TV Stations: REAL ID Deadline is Just Months Away
A new year means a new push to remind Oklahomans about the upcoming REAL ID deadline. This week, television stations ran stories on why it's important to apply for the credential by May 7. KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma City told its viewers that they'll need a REAL ID to fly domestically unless they opt to use a federal ID like a U.S. passport. The station encouraged viewers to visit Service Oklahoma to get their REAL IDs soon rather than wait until the last minute.
KSWO 7News in Lawton had a similar message for its viewers, reminding them that a REAL ID not only allows Oklahomans to board domestic flights, but also visit military bases and certain federal buildings. 7News advised its audience to learn how to apply by visiting Service Oklahoma's website. There, they'll find a dedicated REAL ID page that features a countdown timer to the federal deadline, a display of how many REAL IDs have been issued in Oklahoma so far, plus an interactive checklist to ensure customers have all the documents needed to get their REAL IDs.
