Key Project Dates
Here’s what you need to know about key system development dates for Project BOOST:
-
Foundation Demos: Three demos are scheduled to showcase progress and gather feedback on Oct. 30, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18.
-
New Requirements Locked: By Jan. 3, no new requirements may be submitted. This deadline marks the transition from foundational setup to the next development phase, where we’ll focus on refining requirements.
-
Definition Phase Wrap-Up: Our definition meetings will conclude by Feb. 28, giving us clear plans and requirements to move forward with the new system.
-
Legacy System Freeze: No further changes to the current D360 system will be allowed after May 13 as we prepare for the transition.
-
Code Freeze Milestones: These dates are crucial as they help ensure stability in the new system as we approach launch.
-
Soft Freeze on Oct. 24: Only essential adjustments will be allowed—think of it as final touch-ups.
-
Hard Freeze on Nov. 14: At this stage, the code is fully "locked," meaning no further changes are permitted. This ensures a stable, smooth launch.
-
BOOST Go Live: We'll go live with the new system the weekend before Thanksgiving, Nov. 22-24, 2025.
Thales Meetings Begin
We’ve kicked off meetings with Thales, our selected vendor for redesigning Oklahoma’s physical driver licenses and printing all state credentials, including driver licenses and state IDs. Thales has already been on site for three initial meetings, and we’ll be starting weekly sessions for the official project work soon. As a global leader in cybersecurity and data protection, Thales brings a strong reputation and a commitment to sustainability.
Foundation Demo
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, we held the first foundation phase demo for Project BOOST, inviting both Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Booster Club members to preview the progress we’ve made since launching in August. By including these key stakeholders, we’re gathering early and diverse feedback on system functionality and ensuring everyone has a chance to weigh in on what they’re seeing.
This demo, conducted with our FAST team, represents an important milestone as we work to build a solid foundation for the new system. The session covered core areas, including service sessions, customer registration, fees and payment processing, driver control, the online portal and vehicle transactions. While preliminary, these demos are designed to give a first look at essential system features, providing our team a collaborative space to ask questions, share observations and help fine-tune the system.
We’ll continue to host monthly demos through early next year, closing out the foundation phase in January. This regular feedback loop will be vital to refining Project BOOST to meet our agency's needs for a successful launch.
Read on to see some key insights and feedback from our Booster Club following the demo!
Updates from the Booster Club
The day after our first foundation demo, the Booster Club gathered to provide initial feedback on Project BOOST’s new features. Before diving into updates from the Booster Club, we’re excited to share the initial feedback collected.
All Booster Club members indicated that they believe the new system may be or is definitely an improvement over the previous system. Additionally, the Booster Club rated the project’s progress at a positive 4.24 out of 5, and members gave the ease of navigating the new system a solid 4.18 out of 5 after the demo.
A User-Friendly System for Staff and Customers: Many Booster Club members highlighted the system’s streamlined, user-friendly design as a key improvement. With a single-page entry for customer information, fewer tabs to navigate and background checks run early in the process, the system is much easier to use. One member noted, “I really like that all information is entered on one page and that it runs the checks on the front side,” which makes it easier to identify any issues upfront.
Efficiency Gains in Customer Service: With Project BOOST, background checks are conducted early in the process, so any restrictions, like a customer’s suspended status, are detected right away. This feature allows staff to focus on eligible transactions and streamline customer interactions from the start. The Booster Club members also noted how helpful the service transition page will be in managing customer files: “It shows the layout of completed customer info, which allows for easy access to make changes without entering multiple tabs.”
Enhanced AAMVA Integration and Accessibility: Integration with AAMVA, a core part of the BOOST system, promises to simplify the workflow for our staff. The new system is designed to be accessible and customer-friendly, ensuring that both staff and customers can benefit from a smooth and efficient service experience.
Looking Forward to the Next Phases: This early demo has left Booster Club members eager to explore more features and put the new system to the test. The feedback provided by the Booster Club will help ensure the final system meets the needs of all users and that any potential issues are addressed along the way.
Stay tuned as we share further feedback from our Booster Club as they participate in future demos!
New System Features: BOOST UPS
Once again, we're giving you an early look at some of the game-changing features coming with our new driver license system. BOOST UPS offer a glimpse of the improvements coming in 2025, all designed to make your daily tasks easier. Here are just a couple of standout features from the last month of development meetings:
-
Credential Status Tracking: Examiners and phone staff will now be able to see the status of a credential order from the print factory, including whether it’s been printed and mailed.
-
Streamlined Third-Party Roles: User roles for other agencies and groups, such as designated examiners and third-party examiners, will reduce manual work on our end, helping to minimize errors and clear backlogs.
