Frequently Asked Questions

Will the sessions be recorded or streamed?

  • Due to multiple sessions and the hands-on nature of the event, sessions will not be recorded or streamed online.

Can I attend 1 day or 1.5 days of the Summer Academy?

  • No, all accepted attendees should plan to attend two full days of professional development.

How are teachers accepted?

  • Because of the $200 stipend, we are limited to 40 teachers per arts subject and 2 teachers per arts subject area per district. Attendees will mostly be decided by "first applied, first accepted." However, if multiple teachers from one district sign up (for example, 15 music teachers from a larger district), then a committee from the OSDE Standards and Learning department will decide who will be attending and who will not (based on responses in the application) to offer equal opportunity to teachers  across the state.

Where is Edmond Memorial High School?

  • The exact address for the school is: 1000 E. 15th St, Edmond, OK 73013. The morning keynote will be held in the auditorium (southwest part of the school) and sessions will be held in classrooms nearby.

Is there a cost to attend?

  • There is not a cost to attend. Teachers will be paid a stipend for attending.

The application asks for my teacher certification number. How do I find that?

  • Your teacher certification number is on the top right corner of your teacher certificate. You can also find your certification number in the OSDE's information portal called "Single Sign On." You may need to create an account to log in and see your info.

Is lunch provided?

  • Lunch is not provided, but there are restaurants and fast food places in Edmond. Attendees are also welcome to bring their lunch.

If I'm traveling from a few hours away, where do I stay? Is there hotel or travel reimbursement?

  • There is no hotel or travel reimbursement for attendees. Attendees are welcome to  make reservations at any local hotels or make other arrangements. Nearby hotels include: Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Edmond; Hampton Inn Oklahoma City/Edmond; or Home2 Suites by Hilton Edmond.
