Life Skills Resources

Shout out to Bristow Alt Ed and Jill Cantrell for sharing this one. A Youtube channel called "Dad, How do I?" These are short videos during which a Dad shows how to do things from shaving to putting air in your wheelbarrow tires to making lemon bars. These videos are a great jumping off point for a class discussion or a class participation activity. They can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNepEAWZH0TBu7dkxIbluDw

Shout out to Olive Alt Ed and Leslie Shoulders for sharing this one. This Life Skills Checklist is a great starting point to determine what life skills your students are missing and what they already know. Students check yes or no based on whether they do or don't know how to do the skill. Once the students fill out the sheet, the teacher can use the data to plan life skill lessons for individual students, groups of students, or the entire class. Great opportunity for students to teach other students life skills or to have a guest presenter (Mechanic, Mary Kay/Avon lady, Chef, HR person, Seamstress, etc.) teach a class.
