**NEW** High Need Applications

High Need Applications (Tier 1 and Tier 2) can be submitted starting July 1. The applications can be found on the OSDE-SES website under Finance.  Applications will be accepted through the fourth Friday of July.


**NEW** Annual Finance Workshops

Our annual Finance Workshops will be coming soon. Watch for updates regarding dates, locations, and registrations.


**NEW** FY22 IDEA Closeouts

FY22 IDEA Closeouts are now open.

Districts must perform a closeout for IDEA projects 621, 623, 625, 641, 642, and IDEA ARP projects 624, 628, 643, and 644.

Projects 613, 615, 616, 626, and 627 do not require a closeout.

Closeouts must be completed online through the GMS and completed by September 1st. Closeouts cannot be performed until all submitted claims have been processed.

To ensure timely and meaningful consultation, a local education agency (LEA) must
consult with private school representatives and representatives of parents of parentally placed, private school children with disabilities during the design and development of special education and related services.

Oklahoma State Department Special Education Services will be holding the 2022 Directors Summit following OKEngage around Oklahoma in July. 

  • Only 1 person per district is allowed to register overall. *Question about registration can be directed to Megan Horton

  • Each day will be held from 9:00AM to 4:00PM

Updated Directors Summit

**NEW** Dr. Kaylin Coody Paraprofessional Training

The Oklahoma State Department of Education - Special Education Services Division in collaboration with Dr. Kaylin Coody will be hosting a set of paraprofessional trainings in Oklahoma City and Glenpool this Fall. Topics of discussion include Behavior Strategies, Progress Monitoring, Data Collection, and Classroom Behavior Management for Paraprofessionals. The training, in addition to online work, will provide the required hours of SDE curriculum necessary for the OSDE Paraprofessional Certificate.

The training is divided into two sessions – Part I and Part II. Information about the corresponding sessions/locations is below:

Register for Oklahoma City

  • Oklahoma City Part I – Tuesday, October 4, 2022
  • Oklahoma City Part II – Wednesday, November 2, 2022

Register for Glenpool

  • Glenpool Part I – Wednesday, October 5, 2022
  • Glenpool Part II – Thursday, November 3, 2022

To receive credit for the required hours necessary for the OSDE Paraprofessional Certificate, participants must attend both part one and part two at the location of their choice. If participants do not complete both sessions, they will not receive credit for the required hours necessary for the OSDE Paraprofessional Certificate.

The training is free of charge if participants attend both sessions. If attendees do not participate in both training sessions, the district will be responsible for the cost associated with the participant(s). Registration is required.

Professional Development

**NEW** Professional Development Bonus for District Determinations

Districts may now submit 2021-2022 school year professional development documentation to receive up to two bonus points on their annual district determination (issued in November 2022). Note that not all PD qualifies for bonus points. The deadline for submissions is October 72022.

National Resource for Paraeducators

Starting in August 2022, the National Resource Center for Paraeducators (NRCP) and the Center for Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) have organized a year of monthly, low-cost, professional development webinars for paraeducators, teachers, administrators, etc.

Saturday Mornings with the NRCP!

Registration is open and ongoing for 12 webinars! One year of professional development!

Join us on the Second Saturday of each month for exciting topics and presenters! The first six months will cover topics such as:

  • Working Effectively with Students with Challenging and Severe Behaviors.
  • Teachers and Paraeducators Team Teaching in the Classroom/On a Tight Schedule: Enhancing Communication Between Paraeducators and General Education Teachers.
  • Autism/Non-Verbal Trainings/Strategies.
  • IEPs, IDEA, Behavior Management Plans, and Transition Plans: What Are My Roles and Responsibilities?
  • Dispelling the Myths of Unreachable, Unteachable, and Uncaring Students.
  • 10 Ways to Help the Non-worker: Jumpstarting Work Completion Behavior.

Each webinar will be $25 per person. Session bundles are available. Six webinars can be purchased for $125, or all 12 can be purchased for $250. Each webinar will also be recorded and made available to all registrants for a strictly limited time.


Office of Special Education Services State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) for K-3 School Sites: Professional Development Sequence

SSIP

The SSIP goal seeks to improve early literacy outcomes in K-3 school sites by the end of 2025. All K-3 school sites will have access to curated universal supports and three years of sequenced professional development. ATSI school sites will have an additional invitation to apply for instructional coaching. 

Registration is now open for State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) Part B Professional Development Sequence Interest

Educational Interpreter Registry

If your district employs educational interpreters, please verify that they are on the OSDE Educational Interpreter Registry.  All interpreters in an educational setting are required to be on the registry and are required to obtain yearly CEUs.
