FY22 Final Adjustment to State Aid Allocation

The final FY22 Midyear State Aid Allocation adjustment has been made prior to the June payment effective this Thursday.

This adjustment was based on the need for additional funding for the Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarship ($400,000) and funding shortfalls in the Common Education Technology Revolving Fund ($163,841.78), Mineral Leasing ($2,352,872.45) and Education Lottery Trust Fund ($135,357.38).

All adjustments have been posted on Single Sign-On under the State Aid Management System.

The FY22 Redbud School Grant Allocation will be adjusted based on funds received since February. Final payment will be made next week.

Free Summer Professional Development for Educators

EngageOK On the Road

After two years of virtual summer conferences, OSDE is excited to present EngageOK on the Road! In July, speakers from OSDE will visit seven high schools around Oklahoma for a day packed with more than 100 high-quality professional development sessions for teachers and administrators. Sessions will cover a variety of topics including trauma-informed instruction, the Reading Sufficiency Act, federal grant management, ICAP, school safety and more.

Registration is now open for teachers, administrators, district support staff and community partners.

Closes June 27: ELP Assessment Correction Window for WIDA ACCESS and ALT ACCESS Assessments

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) Assessment Data Verification (DVR) Window provides districts with the opportunity to review and update student participation and demographic data related to the WIDA Kindergarten ACCESS, ACCESS for ELLs and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs assessments.

Closes June 30: Chronic Absenteeism Medical Exemption Window

The Chronic Absenteeism Medical Exemption Window is open in the Accountability Reporting application in Single Sign-On.

Designated district users may grant or deny each exemption based on district policy. For additional information and step-by-step guidance, view the Chronic Absenteeism & Medical Exemption Toolkit.

The Chronic Absenteeism Medical Exemption Window will close June 30 at 5 p.m.

In conjunction with the certified Annual Statistical Report (ASR), please note that this window will be the only data verification process for student-level Chronic Absenteeism data.

Due June 30: Language Instruction for English Learners & Immigrant Students Annual Performance Report

The Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students Annual Performance Report is now available on Single Sign-On.

All LEAs must complete this report by June 30.

Due June 30: Title III Consortium Packets

For LEAs wishing to form or renew a Title III Consortium, the deadline for submitting completed consortium packets is June 30.

Open Transfers: District Responsibilities & Upcoming Deadlines

Due July 1: Statement of Open Transfers

Districts are required to review and certify the Statement of Open Transfers in Single Sign-On on an annual basis. This is generally performed after the end of the school year and prior to the beginning of the next school year. This opens as soon as your school term ends. The Statement of Open Transfers must be certified by July 1.

Due June 30: Open Transfer Extension

Districts are required to report on an annual basis whether enrollment for students previously approved for an open transfers will be extended for the next school year. This is generally performed after the end of the school year and prior to the end of June. Districts must complete the Open Transfer Extension by June 30.

Opening Later This Week: OSTP Assessment Correction Window

During the Assessment Correction Window, districts are asked to review student information for all students in grades 3-8 and 11.

Districts should also check FAY status, demographics and if assessment scores are displaying for students who took the assessment. Preliminary assessment scores are available in the OSTP portal and will be displayed in the Accountability Reporting app once the window opens.

Due July 15: 2022-23 Oklahoma Excel Professional Learning Applications

Oklahoma Excel is a free, year-long professional learning experience open to all PK-12 teachers. Participating teachers form small improvement teams and join a content-specific Networked Improvement Community (NIC) in either ELA, math, science or early childhood.

Members of the NIC engage in continuous improvement cycles in their classrooms to implement and refine high-leverage, evidence-based instructional strategies regardless of whether learning is face-to-face, blended or virtual.

Teachers and teacher leaders who participate will have access to:

  • 45-60 hours of sustained, job-embedded, data-driven, classroom-focused professional learning
  • Instructional coaching
  • Networking opportunities with other educators from across the state
  • Practice implementing evidence-based, high-leverage instructional strategies
  • Ongoing opportunities to collect and analyze data related to instructional practices
  • A chance to participate in a cutting-edge, nationally recognized endeavor

Now Open: 2023 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Nominations

Oklahoma Teacher of the Year

The search for Oklahoma's next Ambassador of Teaching begins now! At the local district level, one teacher of the year winner from every school site will be allowed to apply for this prestigious award.

Each application must be signed by the school principal and district superintendent, and it is their responsibility to make sure every teacher is given the opportunity to participate in the recognition process. It is also important to emphasize that the search is not for “the best" teacher, but for one who exemplifies the finest in the profession.

The Oklahoma Teacher of the Year candidate has the respect and admiration of colleagues and:

  • Is an expert in the field who guides students of all backgrounds and abilities to achieve excellence
  • Collaborates with colleagues, students and families to create a school culture of respect and success
  • Deliberately connects the classroom and key stakeholders to foster a strong community at large
  • Demonstrates leadership and innovation that embodies lifelong learning inside and outside the classroom walls
  • Is an engaging and articulate communicator

All candidates must be employed in a state-approved or accredited school and plan to continue in an active teaching status. All Oklahoma Teacher of the Year honorees agree to participate in the national program sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).

Trainings/Webinars

First Class Cohort 5 for Early-Career Teachers

The First Class Teacher Induction Program supports early-career teachers through a comprehensive structure of professional learning and targeted coaching.

First-year teachers who participate in First Class will engage in professional learning sessions focused on classroom management and instructional practices. Participants will also receive regular guidance with a site-based mentor.

Second- and third-year teachers will work with a virtual instructional coach to implement coaching cycles by setting goals, collecting evidence, analyzing data and reflecting on instructional practices.

Teachers who complete all teacher induction activities will be eligible to receive $1,000 stipends.
