FY23 Alternative Education Allocations & Annual Statistical Report

The FY23 Alternative Education allocation will be based on the FY22 Alternative Education average daily membership (ADM). Alt. Ed. membership can be found within the Annual Statistical Report under the Alt. Ed. Student View tab.

The ADM represents any period in which a student was identified as Alt Ed = Yes. This information is imported from your student information system. Please make sure this information is correct before certifying your ASR.

If you have questions, contact State Aid at state.aid@sde.ok.gov.

New Student Exit Code & Exit Date Added to Annual Statistical Report

The Annual Statistical Report (ASR) now includes an exit code and exit date for each student. This is meant to assist district staff in validating that the correct exit code and date were utilized during or at the end of the school year.

It is crucial for districts to update the correct exit codes and exit dates in their student information system (SIS) to ensure the data is correct in the ASR prior to certifying. These certified elements will help eliminate issues for future dropout, graduation and other reporting issues (e.g., Full Academic Year [FAY] status).

If you have questions, contact State Aid at state.aid@sde.ok.gov.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for SY 2022-23

LEAs electing CEP, establishing a new identified student percentage (ISP) or conducting a grace year for SY 2022-23, must calculate the ISP using data drawn from April 2022 direct certification information. The best time to pull this data is around April 6.

LEAs must print a district enrollment list for the same April 2022 time period as the direct certification from the WAVE.

LEAs should also compile documentation for any foster students (verified by the local foster agency), tribal students who receive Indian Commodities (verified from the tribe), a list of students in a federally-funded Head Start program (verified from the Head Start agency) and any homeless, migrant or runaway students determined by the district’s liaison for that program.

Districts must confirm their decision to elect CEP for school year 2022-23 to OSDE by June 30.

If you have questions, contact Nikki Assad at (405) 521-3327.

New Savings for Concurrent Enrollment, Career Tech & Apprenticeship Costs

Information to Share with Local Families

The number of students participating in college and career readiness courses is on the rise, with many students choosing to participate in these courses while in high school as a cost-saving measure. However, early participation does much more than save money – students who participate in college and career readiness programs early are more likely to finish their programs. While these programs can be costly for families, the Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan can help pay for books, fees and other costs associated with college or career training programs.

What is an Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan?

Introduced in April 2000, the Oklahoma 529 College Saving Plan (OCSP) is designed for families who want to open and manage their own 529 college savings accounts. As of December 31, 2021, assets in in the plan exceeded $1.25 billion.

Families can open an Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan and begin making deposits, saving on taxes in the process. Deposits made to a new or existing OCSP account through the April 18 tax filing deadline may be eligible for a 2021 state income tax deduction on contributions of up to $20,000 for joint filers.

Once the students is ready to begin taking college or career training courses, families can begin drawing from their savings accounts.

Funds saved in OCSP accounts may be used for:

  • Apprenticeship costs
  • College and university tuition and fees
  • Concurrent enrollment tuition and fees
  • CareerTech tuition and fees
