Other News

Oklahoma State Infection Reporting System (SIRS)

Oklahoma law requires school districts to immediately notify the local/county health department of known positive COVID-19 cases and exposures in school. 63 O.S. § 6303(B). To accomplish this, OSDE and the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) established the State Infection Reporting System (SIRS), a uniform reporting mechanism for schools, accessible to authorized school and health officials through Single Sign-On.

School districts are required to use the SIRS portal to report both positive and negative cases of students, staff, community, as well as quarantined students and staff. All local health departments will use this reporting mechanism to compile and track cases of COVID-19 in schools.

On-site testing results must be self-reported by school districts daily and verified through collaborative work with health officials. Neither OSDE nor OSDH can verify the reported information and, as such, makes no representations regarding the accuracy of the data presented. This data is subject to change and may be different than information reported elsewhere due to timing of reporting or other factors.

While the reporting tool is easily accessible and instructions are available on Single Sign-On, the OSDH will offer refresher training sessions on the reporting tool, differences between lab reporting requirements, (entering positive and negative results of tests conducted at schools) and case reporting. These webinars will be recorded and posted on the Project 723 webpage.
