This virtual summit will expand upon OSDE's previous trauma-informed conferences by offering educators practical strategies to collaborate with families and communities for student success. Keynote speaker Heather Forbes will discuss the tools, understanding and resources needed to successfully create a trauma-informed learning environment, whether it is in a single classroom, a school or an entire district.
All registered attendees will receive a link to the keynote before the day of the virtual event.

The U.S. Office of Civil Rights’ 2020-21 CRDC data collection is open through Feb. 28. All data elements provided by OSDE have been submitted and should be prepopulated for all districts.
As a reminder, districts may choose to either use the data submitted by OSDE or they can overlay it with their own submissions. OSDE recommends districts review the prepopulated data and overwrite any inaccuracies.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission Public Utility Division is offering free E-Rate and Oklahoma Universal Service Fund (OUSF) training for schools and libraries. Due to travel concerns associated with COVID-19, the OUSF E-rate training will be held virtually on Feb. 24.
The training will include discussion on the following topics:
- Navigating the OCC/OUSF website
- Eligible service providers
- Overview of affidavit
- Bid reviews and contract concerns
- Preapproval requests
- OUSF funding process
- Form 471 changes
- New rules for Category Two
- Best practices for filing funding applications
- E-Rate program rules and compliance
- Funds for Learning
Staff will also conduct an open question and answer session for participants.

OSDE is pleased to announce the From the Start Reading Project, a set of nine professional development courses on evidence-based foundational literacy. These dynamic modules, located within the OSDE Connect virtual learning platform, provide professional learning on components of strong early literacy instruction with a focus on practical classroom application.
These training modules cover the following topics:
- The Early Elementary Literacy Block
- Oral language
- Phonemic awareness
- Phonics
- Foundational writing
- Vocabulary
- Language structures
- The writing process
- Comprehension
Through these courses, educators will learn highly effective strategies based in the Science of Reading. Each module is 1-2 hours in length and can be accessed individually or as a complete set, which allows educators to explore the content independently for personal growth or with a team of colleagues.
