Annual OSDE summer conference for teachers starts next week 

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 15, 2021) – The Oklahoma State Department of Education’s annual summer professional development conference kicks off next week with an entirely virtual event. EngageOK in the Cloud will be held Monday, June 21, through Wednesday, June 23. 

The free conference features 30 sessions of professional development for educators, including: 

  • Assessing and Addressing Unfinished Student Learning 
  • Understanding School Threats
  • A Blueprint for Successful Virtual or Blended Instruction 
  • Advocacy, Outreach, and Leadership for Special Education 
  • Differentiating Instruction in the Post-Pandemic Classroom 
  • Bullying Prevention in the Multi-tiered System of Support Framework 

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister will open the conference at 8:30 a.m. Monday, moderating a panel discussion with high school students called “Lessons from the Pandemic.” On Tuesday morning at 8:30, Hofmeister will address the state of education in Oklahoma. Both sessions will be livestreamed on OSDE’s Facebook page. See the event schedule for more details on individual sessions. 

This is the second year the conference has been virtual. The conference, normally titled EngageOK on the Road, traveled the state in the past offering free in-person training. OSDE anticipates the conference will return to the in-person format next summer. 

EngageOK in the Cloud is free to educators, but attendees must register at engage.ok.gov. All sessions will be recorded and posted to the EngageOK website.
