ESL Certification Opportunity

The OELP would like to alert state educators of a new, no-cost opportunity to earn a state teaching certificate ESL endorsement. In partnership with the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, OSDE is hosting a self-paced ESL certification course on the osdeconnect learning platform. Educators successfully completing the course may be eligible to receive a no-cost voucher for the CEOE English as a Second Language certification exam.

Educators wishing to participate need to complete the following steps (existing osdeconnect users may skip to step 4 after logging in to the platform):

1. Go to osdeconnect.ok.gov
2. Click on the Get Started link (located under the blue Sign In button) and complete the requested information.
3. Complete the requested information on the Tell us About Yourself pop-up. After closing the pop-up, the educator should be directed to their home screen. (Note- the educator home screen will be blank until one or more courses have been added)
4. Select the +Add link on the educator home screen. This will bring up the platform course catalog.
5. Either scroll to the bottom of the page and select the blue EL button, or search for English learners in the search bar in the upper right corner of the screen.
6. Click on the Teachers of English Learners Pilot tile.
7. Click Enroll in the pop-up, and then click Finished. The pop-up should disappear and the tile should indicate the educator has been enrolled in the module.
8. Close the course catalog by clicking the “X” in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The course tile should now be visible on the educator home screen.
9. Select +Add on the educator home screen.
10. Select Redeem in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
11. Enter code D317-8B50-7D83 in the box and click the blue Redeem button.
12. Click Finished in the pop-up and close the catalog. This should return the educator to the home screen, which should now include the ESL Certification Exam Prep Course tile.
13. Selecting the ESL Certification Exam Prep Course tile will bring up the course home page. Educators may begin working through the subarea modules at their own pace.

Upon completion of the ESL Certification Exam Prep course, educators will be awarded a certificate of completion. Educators wishing to pursue a voucher waiving the cost of the CEOE ESL certification assessment must complete a brief survey and upload their certificate of completion here. Please note that there are a limited number of vouchers available, and that vouchers will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis.
