The Office of Special Education Services will no longer process paraprofessional applications. The Office of Teacher Certification is currently developing online procedures, creating a temporary pause. During this transition, districts are responsible for maintaining the application and required documentation until further notice.

There are several ways you can seek out assistance with your special education child count. First, check out the training slides and webinar available on our website (https://sde.ok.gov/child-count-collection). Second, we are hosting two “open door” zoom sessions as something of an experiment in providing remote support. Please read this notice for more information and registration. Finally, you are welcome to contact a member of the data team at any time for assistance with resolving child count errors, locating students or records, and updating your EdPlan list. Our email addresses are: travis.thompson@sde.ok.gov, tristan.bratcher@sde.ok.gov, and ginger.elliott-teague@sde.ok.gov. The special education child count will be taken October 1, though there will be at least two weeks of cleanup time afterward, to address any students of concern.
OSDE has free paraprofessional training through Pepper, an online professional learning community providing access anytime, anywhere.
The Oklahoma Deaf Blind Technical Assistance Project and Samantha Charles from Oklahoma School for the blind will be hosting a Webinar Series; Creating Effective Educational Opportunities for Children with Deaf-Blindness and/or Multiple Disabilities.
Children with deaf-blindness and/or multiple disabilities require specialized techniques and strategies to learn. Each child presents unique characteristics that challenge educational teams. This webinar series is designed to assist school teams in developing a meaningful education plan for children with deaf-blindness and/or multiple disabilities.

With up to one in three children struggling with anxiety in this country, overwhelmed adults require a new approach as well as a practical and easy-to-implement toolkit of strategies that work. In the time of COVID19, and the subsequent societal changes, anxiety has become ever-present in students of all ages. It is probable that during a pandemic that heavily impacts everyday life, levels of anxiety in children and teens are even higher, and the possibility of subsequent trauma greater.
Through the use of case studies, humorous stories, and examples of everyday challenging situations, participants will learn easy to implement preventive tools, strategies, and interventions for reducing anxiety, increasing self-regulation, accurate thinking, and self-monitoring in students. Virtual classroom and traditional classroom examples will be shared.
Jessica Minahan, MEd, BCBA, is a licensed and board-certified behavior analyst, special educator, as well as a consultant to schools internationally (www.jessicaminahan.com). Jessica has over seventeen years of experience supporting students who exhibit challenging behavior in urban public school systems. She is the co-author of The Behavior Code: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Teaching the Most Challenging Students (Harvard Education Press, 2012) and author of The Behavior Code Companion: Strategies, Tools, and Interventions for Supporting Students with Anxiety-Related or Oppositional Behaviors (Harvard Education Press, 2014).

All test administrators may begin completing training courses. Courses are accessed in the Moodle training site at http://training.dynamiclearningmaps.org/. The DLM system will only assign training courses to users assigned a teacher role in Educator Portal. District administrators who would like to complete DLM training must assign themselves a teacher role.
· All training must be completed before administering the DLM assessment.
· Each post-test must be completed with a score of 80% or better. All post-tests must be successfully completed in order for the entire training course to be complete.
FY21 IDEA Part B Flow-Through and Preschool allocations have been published. Districts can view their allocations once they have created their FY21 consolidated application in GMS. For assistance contact your finance specialist.
