Introducing Levi Patrick, Assistant Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction and new Interim Director of Gifted and Talented Education

Levi with his daughter

I thought I might introduce myself even if I only have the opportunity to serve as the Interim Director of Gifted and Talented Education. Having spent nearly 8 years at the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), hopefully at some point we've had a chance to intersect with one another. If not, I'm Levi Patrick--a math-loving, never-satisfied kind of person who sees my role at the OSDE as part instigator (in a good way!), part advocate, and full-time dreamer.

Every so often I have the opportunity to work on projects that speak to me and fill me with excitement and hope. Learning more about how Oklahoma prioritizes gifted and talented students and all of the work happening in the Oklahoma Young Scholars grant (aka Javits Grant) has truly been one of those experiences. It’s inspiring to a part of the efforts ensuring GT programs are inclusive and meaningfully serving all students. It has opened my eyes to the momentum and opportunities we have as a community!

I look forward to learning more about the GT community and hope to provide support as you work to meet reporting deadlines, plan advisory committee meetings, and ensure all of your GT teachers are prepared to serve your GT students. I hope you'll join us this Thursday for the July-edition of the monthly GT Directors' Virtual Meeting. See you then!

Button - Submit Here

To successfully upload your report, you will need to double check that your report meets the requirements of the law (see below) and you will need to know the total value of all expenditures coded with the 251 Program Code.

As a reminder, here’s what the law requires:

  • All reports must be submitted by August 1 of each year as required by 70 O.S. §1210.307(D).
  • For districts which receive six percent (6%) or more of their total State Aid money for gifted and talented programs or which received One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) or more in State Aid for gifted and talented programs for the preceding year, the report shall identify expenditures by major object codes and program classifications pursuant to the Oklahoma Cost Accounting System, as adopted by the State Board of Education.
  • All other districts shall identify expenditures by major object codes.

If you already submitted your report to Robbyn Glinsmann, Tiffany Neill,
or me, you DO NOT need to resubmit.
