Job Match Tool Now Available in OECS

The OSDE’s new job match tool is now live on the Oklahoma Educator Credentialing System (OECS). This system will allow superintendents, principals and district-approved Human Resources personnel to post vacant certified positions and connect with qualified educators who have opted into the system.

To use this feature, please do the following:

  1. Click the “Manage Your District Job Needs” tile on your home page to manage your district job needs.
  2. Add new certified positions that will be matched to qualified educators seeking employment in that job need area.

If you have questions, contact the Office of Teacher Certification at (405) 521-3337.

Jan. 1: New Fingerprint Procedures

Effective Jan. 1, the $53.94 fee for certification and employment background checks will increase to $57.25. Please continue to make checks payable to Idemia.

All applicants must now pre-register on the IdentoGO website prior to being printed, whether printing is done at a satellite site or the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE).

Applicants cannot be fingerprinted without a registration ID number that the website will provide after registration is complete. Also, when registering, one of the following service codes must be entered on the “Service Code Entry” screen. Please instruct your applicants to use the relevant code.

  • “School District Employment” service code: 2B7KRR
  • “Teacher Certification” service code: 2B7KS5
  • “Dual Processing” (only available at OSDE) service code: 2B7KTN

Idemia will now offer out-of-state digital fingerprinting services (if available in your area). You may register online at the IdentoGO website.

Furthermore, OSDE will no longer process physical fingerprint cards for the $57.25 payment option at our site for any purposes. All cards completed with the $57.25 payment option should be sent directly to IdentoGO by the applicant. Instructions on how and where to send the cards are provided on the IdentoGO website. Please note: OSDE will continue to offer the $45 OSBI employment background check option. Please continue to send those to the OSDE.

If you have any questions, contact (405) 521-3337 and ask to be transferred to the fingerprinting office.

Due Dec. 15: Now Seeking Talent Pool Recommendations

State Talent Pool

Do you know a classroom teacher or principal who demonstrates exceptional educational talent and whose exemplary accomplishments beyond the classroom model excellence for the profession? We are looking for early- to mid-career individuals whose contributions are largely unheralded, yet worthy of the spotlight for our State Educator Talent Pool.

From our talent pool, OSDE pulls engaging and inspiring educators to serve on special task forces and advisory groups and sometimes for special recognition. The deadline for recommendations is Dec. 15. This is a confidential process. For a recommendation form, click here.

Serving Neglected and/or Delinquent Facilities: Requirements & Exceptions

In most cases, facilities housing neglected and/or delinquent youth (shelters, orphanages, detention centers, etc.) are served by the Local Education Agency (LEA) where the facility is located. There are, however, some exceptions, where a facility is served by an LEA other than where the facility is physically located.

Beginning in FY21, LEAs serving a facility that are not located within their own boundaries must obtain a written waiver from the LEA within whose boundaries the facility is located. Such a waiver must be obtained no later than May 1 of the school year prior to the one in which services are to be rendered. A copy of the waiver must then be sent to the state Title I, Part D coordinator at OSDE by May 31 of that same year.

Neglected and/or delinquent facilities also have the option of contracting for “remote Internet-based courses” with an LEA other than the one where the facility is located (70 O.S. § 1-113). In these cases a waiver is not necessary. The facility must, however, inform the local LEA of its intention to contract with a different LEA no later than May 1 of the school year prior to the one in which services are to be rendered. A copy of this letter of intent shall also be provided to the state Title I, Part D coordinator no later than May 31.

If you have questions, contact Thomas Kirk in the Office of Federal Programs at Thomas.Kirk@sde.ok.gov or (405) 521-4878.
