September Newsletter
We are wrapping up the fine arts standards and moving closer to public comment! Be sure to look for the public comment period in October and November. In order for the new standards to work for all Oklahoma arts educators and their students, we need feedback from you. Please contribute to the discussion this fall.
Professional Development
There are some professional development opportunities coming up! On Friday, September 20th through Saturday, September 21st, the Oklahoma Dance Education Academy will take place at the University of Central Oklahoma. Notifications to accepted attendees will be sent soon!
Two other professional development days are scheduled for this fall.
October 28th - Tulsa, Hardesty Library*
November 14th - Lawton, Great Plains Technology Center
Both events are open to ANY fine arts educator in the state (dance, drama/theatre, music, and visual art). The workshops will focus on 3 topics: standards, arts data, and classroom support. Participants will explore the new proposed standards in their teaching subject area. Information will be shared about the current state of fine arts classes in Oklahoma. Grants and other fine arts opportunities will also be shared. Registration is required and a registration portal will be available soon!
*This event is not affiliated in any way with the Tulsa City-County Library. The Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event, the speaker(s) or the organization.

Teachers and education leaders across the state have made it clear to the Oklahoma Arts Council that classroom art supplies are one of their greatest needs in delivering high quality visual and performing arts education programs. Funding for art supplies is essential for Oklahoma schools to sustain valuable art programs that help students succeed in their education and beyond.
To meet this critical need of schools in our state, the Oklahoma Arts Council offers Classroom Supply Grants of up to $500 per site per school year to purchase supplies and materials for visual and performing arts instruction that takes place during the school day.
Application Timeline
September 1 - Grant applications are made available. Schools may submit an application anytime through the deadline.
