Special Olympics: AT for Recreation

ABLE Tech was in the middle of the fun at Olympic Village during the 50th Annual Oklahoma Special Olympics in Stillwater during May. Visitors to the ABLE Tech booth learned through play that Assistive Technology (AT) isn’t only for academics but can also be for recreation and leisure.

Registration Open for 2019-2020 AT Training Workshops

Register now to participate in the FREE Oklahoma ABLE Tech AT Assessment Workshop Series for the 2019-2020 school-year. The series will take participants from theory to practice with hands-on activities to learn the steps for providing AT to students in schools. The 3-part series will be offered in Enid during the fall school semester and repeated in Shawnee during the spring.

AT Online Curriculum

Educators can learn about AT processes at their own pace and receive credit through Oklahoma EDPlan. The process takes two steps: first, complete the ABLE Tech Online Curriculum Courses, and then upload your completion certificates into the ABLE Tech AT Training Modules in the Pepper Network to get your continuing education credits in EDPlan.

Bookshare Tips

Bookshare suggests the following tips to make sure you are ready to provide accessible digital text for students.

  1. Increment grade levels for each student.
  2. Set up Readings Lists for students to use in the fall.
  3. Request books you cannot find on Bookshare.
  4. Clean up current Reading Lists by updating students and books.
