Deb Wade

Deb Wade has joined the OSDE team as the Director of Elementary English Language Arts today, July 1, 2019.

Deb Wade’s childhood was split into equal time in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Kansas. Her adult life has also been geographically diverse, with stints in North Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma. She graduated cum laude from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas with a B.S. in Language and Literature and a minor in Education.

Sterling College is also where she met Randy, the love of her life and husband of (almost) 29 years. She is a National Board Certified Teacher with certification in Middle Childhood Generalist.

In 2006 Deb became a teacher consultant for the Oklahoma Writing Project, which has led to her presenting numerous professional development workshops throughout the state as well as serving as co-director for the Oklahoma Writing Project’s Summer Institute for the past seven years.

She taught at Muldrow Middle School in Muldrow, Pioneer Intermediate School in Noble, and Wiley Post and Will Rogers Elementary Schools in the Putnam City District in Oklahoma City. Deb was 2013 Teacher of the Year at Pioneer, and served as Team Leader for her 5th grade team at Wiley Post.

She has always had a passion for reading, and sharing books aloud with children makes her must-do list as an educator. She currently lives in Piedmont and loves when daughters Rebekah (25), Anna (22), and Lydia (19) find their way home to hang out with her.

You can connect with her at Deborah.Wade@sde.ok.gov, on Instagram at a_wadewithwordsok  or on Twitter at a_wadewithwords. Her office phone number is 405-521-3034.
