FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Oklahoma's new school accountability dashboard a big hit with families

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 6, 2019) – In only three months, the Oklahoma School Report Cards’ interactive dashboard has drawn more than 1.2 million views. Administered by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), the website hosts a school accountability system providing an array of information about school and student performance.

Since its public release on Feb. 28, the school report card dashboard at https://oklaschools.com has drawn approximately 3,000 viewers each week.

“Increasing meaningful engagement around the support of public education and our students’ success have been a top priority. It’s encouraging to see so many people taking advantage of the interactive and transparent dashboard tool,” said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister. “In developing  the new accountability system, we were determined to provide meaningful and actionable data that schools and communities can use to improve outcomes for kids. With 92,000 users and counting, it is apparent this tool is meeting a need for families and communities across Oklahoma.”

Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and a 2016 state law, House Bill 3218, the OSDE was directed to develop a new school accountability system. The interactive, user-friendly dashboard-based platform provides a snapshot of multiple aspects of school and student performance, including student growth. Families may also access their student’s state assessment results from this spring and previous years by selecting the “Your Student” tab.

Oklaschools.com is searchable by school, district address or county.
