Hofmeister congratulates

Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Donna Gradel

for top 4 finish for national honor

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 24, 2019) – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister made the following remarks today after social studies teacher Rodney Robinson of Virginia was named the National Teacher of the Year. Donna Gradel, an environmental science teacher from Broken Arrow, was one of four finalists for the award.

“Donna Gradel’s innovative approach to teaching represents the commitment and innovation of educators across Oklahoma who work tirelessly to ensure that our children are learning to think critically and discovering new ways to shape their world. We are so proud of Donna, and we are thankful to the National Teacher of the Year Program for recognizing her incredible talent, for elevating the teaching profession and for allowing us to learn creative approaches to instruction from the nation’s finest educators.”
