OMES leadership presents the state AI transformation plan
CIO Dan Cronin and Chief Artificial Intelligence and Technology Officer Tai Phan presented the state's vision for AI transformation to the Committee on Government Modernization and Technology.
The discussion centered on the future of AI and the essential steps the state is taking to provide guardrails and protect its citizens.
Our goal is to use responsible technology to deliver equitable, efficient and trusted government services, beginning by laying a foundation for future agency growth and transformative investments.
Introducing BEACON
Our state AI playbook, BEACON, provides the structure for this transformation and stands for:
-
Bridge
-
Educate
-
Align
-
Create
-
Operate
-
Normalize
BEACON will guide the creation of our AI strategy and operations program, which will evolve to inspire public/private partnerships and provide AI literacy programs for our workforce and citizens.
We invite you to review the state AI standard, your guide to understanding the state's official requirements for AI use.

Interagency collaboration
The speed and value of interagency collaboration were on full display with our recent work for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA)!
Facing an urgent need to equip their cubicles and build a backup inventory for employees returning to the office, OHCA reached out to the OMES IT Asset Management (ITAM) team. They jumped into action, quickly identifying and offering refurbished monitors and docking stations from our existing inventory, which provides agencies a cheaper option than buying new devices.
 |
|
In just 24 hours, the ITAM team finalized the details, providing OHCA with all the equipment needed immediately. This solution not only ensures their staff is fully equipped but also delivers significant value, saving the state $28,640 by utilizing existing assets. |
A new home for enhanced collaboration
We’re excited to announce our expansion into a new space at the M.C. Connors Building.
This is much more than a change of address; it’s an investment in our shared success. The space is specifically designed to facilitate better collaboration and ensure every team member feels supported.
By providing closer access to our partner agencies and creating dedicated areas for creative conversations, we are fostering an open forum and community feel.
This focus helps us achieve what we call the "3 C's": building a strong, vibrant Culture, Community and Collaboration, all of which are vital for our ability to innovate and serve all Oklahomans.
