Issue with content carryover in performance reviews
We were notified of an issue where competency weights are missing from some 2025 Year-End reviews. We opened a support request with Workday about this issue and received the following explanation:
If the worker made any edits on the Midyear review, such as adding a comment, the weights on competencies were removed from the review due to the template configuration having no weighting. However, if the user did not make any edits, then the weights remained in the background even though they were hidden on the Midyear review.
To summarize, workers who did not make edits during the Midyear review should experience normal carryover to the Year-End review. Workers that made edits may be missing competency weights in their Year-End review.
The Workday@OK team has investigated various solutions to assist in moving performance reviews forward. The steps that should be taken to resolve this issue are outlined below:
- For reviews that have not passed the Review Content step: Advise supervisors to check the competency weights before skipping the Review Content step. If the competency weights are missing, the supervisor can add them back in at that step.
- For reviews with the employee or the manager’s manager to approve the Review Content step: The employee or the manager’s manager should send the review back to the immediate supervisor if weights are missing.
- For reviews that are at any other step and missing competency weights: The HR partner should manually send the review back to the supervisor at the Review Content step.
If the employee tries to submit their self-evaluation without competency weights, they will receive an error stating the sum of all weights for competencies must equal 100.
According to Workday, this does not appear to be an issue with the Guided Experience editor that will be in use with the 2026 templates. Normally, Workday would refer this defect to their development team, but since the Summary Editor and Guided Editor are being retired and the issue does not occur with the new Guided Experience Editor, they are not supporting the retiring editors at this time.
