The below corrects the IRS mileage reimbursement rate to $.58 from $.585.

The mileage rate for state travel for agencies covered by the State Travel Reimbursement Act will be increased to $.50 per mile for calendar year 2019. This is an increase from the $.47 rate for 2018. In determining this rate, OMES considers rates of surrounding states, fuel costs, maintenance costs and other factors. The new mileage rate will go into effect on January 1.

Agencies not subject to the STRA are encouraged to use the state rate for reimbursement. However, these agencies are authorized to use the rate established by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS has announced an increase in the mileage reimbursement rate to $.58 per mile. This is an increase from the $.545 rate for 2018. The IRS rate also goes into effect on January 1.
