Did you know that your Home Owner's Association (HOA) may request a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) mobile collection event? Our highly trained staff will visit your neighborhood to provide a convenient, environmentally safe way to dispose of your HHW, and this service is entirely FREE for OKC utility customers (with a copy of your water utility bill).
During a recent event, hosted by the Whitehall HOA at Bluff Creek Park, 42 residents delivered 2,340 pounds of HHW, including paint, oil, and batteries. These products contain hazardous components that could contaminate our environment if thrown away in the regular trash or illegally dumped.
To host an HHW mobile collection event, please call Storm Water Quality Outreach at (405) 297-1797 to learn more about program requirements.
Don’t forget, you may also drop off HHW items Tuesday – Saturday at our HHW Collection Center at 1621 S Portland Ave. Check out the list of accepted HHW items and operational hours on our website.

Winter is quickly approaching, and trees are beginning to drop their leaves. This fall, consider "leaving the leaves" in your yard. Many animals such as birds, mammals, reptiles, invertebrates and other species depend on leaf litter for survival during the winter months. Yards may also benefit from the natural fertilizer provided as the leaves break down.
If residents decide to dispose of their leaves, be sure to dispose of them properly, not in the street or a nearby storm drain. Improperly disposed of yard and landscape debris into storm drains or drainage channels is a violation of Oklahoma City municipal code. These wastes can lead to poor or clogged drainage, increased nutrients, and other receiving water quality problems.
