MAPS 4 Bus Rapid Transit
The City invites residents to weigh in on advanced transit options by taking an online survey at MAPS4BRT.com. MAPS 4 includes $61 million to build two additional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines in South and Northeast OKC. BRT is a high-quality, bus-based transit service that operates similarly to light rail. To achieve rapid service, BRT may include dedicated traffic lanes, traffic signal prioritization (TSP) and fewer stops with elevated platforms with enhanced stations. Combined, these characteristics allow BRT lines to minimize traffic delays and maximize service quality - making BRT an ideal alternative to traveling during high-traffic times in a vehicle.

Rails to trails
Plans are underway to convert an abandoned railroad bridge that crosses the Oklahoma River between Exchange and Western to a multiuse trail for cyclists and walkers. The bridge will enhance the river’s 13-mile trail system. Work on the bridge is scheduled to start in 2024. The project is being funded through the Better Streets, Safer City bond issue passed in 2017.

Heating safety
Nearly half of all structure fires in the winter are caused by heating. We all want to stay safe and warm, so please follow these safety tips:
- Keep anything that can burn at least three feet from a fireplace, wood stove, or any other heating equipment and create a three-foot kid-free zone around open fires.
- Place a screen in front of your fireplace to stop sparks from entering your living area.
- Never leave a fire unattended.
- Cool ashes before moving them to a metal container. Store the container a safe distance from your home or other flammable items.
Skydance Bridge stamp
The U.S. Postal Service is featuring OKC’s iconic Skydance Bridge on a presorted first-class mail stamp in 2023. The stamp can be purchased online by bulk mail users in large batches of 3,000 and 10,000. Skydance Bridge is a 380-foot-long pedestrian bridge with a 197-foot-tall sculpture spanning I-40, connecting Lower and Upper Scissortail Park.

The $14 million multiuse trail is being funded through the Better Streets, Safer City program passed by residents in 2017 and the 2007 General Obligation Bond. The trail is expected to open in spring 2024.

Put an end to yard parking
Yard parking is unsightly and contributes to the decline of neighborhoods. That’s why it is illegal to park a vehicle in your front, back, and side yard or in a field. You can anonymously report this code violation to the City's Action Center. Provide the vehicle’s model, address of the yard where it is parked and the time it’s usually parked there.
