Bert Cooper Trail Connection Project
This trail project is funded through the 2017 Better Streets, Safer City sales tax initiative. The goal is to provide a trail connection on the northwest side of Lake Hefner from the existing trail at Britton Rd north to safely cross Hefner Rd and connect to the Bluff Creek trail. It also creates additional access to the Bert Cooper trails for the neighborhoods to the west.

The Sign Palette
Wayfinding and Signage for Oklahoma City Trails
In order to promote better health through trail use among residents, OKC Parks has set out to install wayfinding signage (shown above) through the City’s multi-use trail system.
The project goal is to enhance the transition between car, pedestrian, and transit use as well as reduce visual clutter along the trails with clear, consolidated and consistent information.
The installation of signage has already commenced at the Bert Cooper Trails with rest of the existing multi-use trails listed below, scheduled to follow.

The installation of signage is expected to be completed by Spring of 2022.

Watch for Me OK Campaign Kick-off
Watch for Me OK is ready to launch next week and we hope you’ll join us in getting the word out to make Central Oklahoma streets safer for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists!
Watch for Me OK is a public awareness campaign from The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments, the city of Oklahoma City and The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office with the goal of reducing the number of pedestrian and bicycle crashes and fatalities in central Oklahoma.
The campaign seeks to educate the public on the rules of the road and aims to keep residents safe while traveling. The program aims to reach people through public service messages, community engagement efforts, educational materials and partnerships with area leaders such as government staff, pedestrian and bicycle advocates, city planners, law enforcement agencies, engineers, public health professionals, the media, influencers, elected officials, parents and educators.
