Re: New Legislative Change to 47 O.S. § 6-105(I) Relating to the Farm Driving Permit
From: Glen Mulready, Insurance Commissioner
Date: March 25, 2024

Effective November 1, 2023, House Bill 1962 amended 47 O.S. § 6-105(I)  allowing  any person who is less than seventeen (17) years of age but is at least fourteen (14) years of age and who resides upon a farm in this state or is employed for compensation upon a farm in this state to apply for a farm permit authorizing such person to operate any Class D motor vehicle with certain restrictions.  Neither the amended statute nor the Insurance Code mandates insurers to provide this coverage; it is the insurer’s choice.

Eligible persons may apply for the permit at Service Oklahoma.  The following is a link to Service Oklahoma for additional details- https://oklahoma.gov/service/all-pages/farm-driving-permit.html.
