Donald Ashwood

As a Captive Coordinator, Donald serves as the primary captive regulator and conducts the financial review/analysis of all Oklahoma new/existing captive insurance companies and captive service providers, monitoring/suggesting prospective captive statutory/rule amendments, periodic conference attendance/participation.

Prior to joining the Insurance Department in June of 2014, Donald worked in the banking industry in Oklahoma and has worked his way up through various positions in OID. He received his Bachelors degree in Mass Communications from Oklahoma City University and is a proud recipient of the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) which serves as the highest achievable designation concerning captive insurance education.

This evening, we took our FEMA Region 6 and the  colleagues for a tour of the National Weather Center in Norman. Thank you Harold Brooks from NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) for speaking tonight!

We also visited the memorial for the three University of Oklahoma meteorology students who died in a tragic traffic accident last Friday. Our thoughts and condolences are with their family and the OU community.

Yesterday, Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready visited Okmulgee to survey the flood damage and met with Okmulgee City Mayor Mickey Baldwin, Okmulgee Fire Department's Chief Dewayne Hurt, Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kay Rabbitt-Brower, and Okmulgee Emergency Services Director Tim Creighton.

Commissioner Mulready also provided the Okmulgee Fire Department staff with dinner as they've been working tirelessly to rescue residents from floodwaters. #okwx
