To protect Oklahoma consumers by monitoring the financial stability and market conduct of Oklahoma insurers and regulated entities.
Our Mission
The Oklahoma Insurance Department will provide competent and trustworthy employees who will protect Oklahoma consumers by providing timely assistance and information and efficiently regulate the insurance industry’s market behavior and financial solvency while fostering a competitive insurance marketplace.
Donald Ashwood
As a Captive Coordinator, Donald serves as the primary captive regulator and conducts the financial review/analysis of all Oklahoma new/existing captive insurance companies and captive service providers, monitoring/suggesting prospective captive statutory/rule amendments, periodic conference attendance/participation.
Prior to joining the Insurance Department in June of 2014, Donald worked in the banking industry in Oklahoma and has worked his way up through various positions in OID. He received his Bachelors degree in Mass Communications from Oklahoma City University and is a proud recipient of the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) which serves as the highest achievable designation concerning captive insurance education.
