Introducing ARM Updates

Introducing the Archives and Records Management Newsletter

From the State Archives and Records Management (ARM) program at the Oklahoma Department of Libraries

We’re excited to launch a new bimonthly Archives and Records Management Newsletter, designed to keep you informed, prepared, and supported in managing records across your agency.

This newsletter will serve as a central source for timely updates and practical guidance from ARM. Whether you’re responsible for records management, compliance, or simply need to stay informed, our goal is to make sure you have what you need—when you need it.

Each issue may include:

  • Timely updates on records management policies and requirements
  • Reminders and deadlines to help you stay on track
  • Training opportunities and resources from trusted organizations
  • Practical tips and best practices for managing records effectively

You can expect bimonthly email updates focused on timely, actionable information, while ARM will continue contributing to the broader ODL monthly newsletter for larger announcements and shared initiatives.

You’re receiving this newsletter because your role may involve records management, compliance, or related responsibilities, or because you are a designated Publications Officer.

RIM Month Resources

April is Records and Information Management (RIM) Month, a time when many offices begin reviewing and cleaning up both paper and electronic records ahead of the July 1 fiscal year.

Free training opportunities are available from a variety of organizations, and the International Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA International) offers a helpful spring-cleaning checklist with practical steps for managing records more effectively.

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries serves as the records management authority for Oklahoma state agencies, providing guidance, tools, and support to help ensure records are managed properly and in compliance with state requirements.

For state agencies, essential tools for records clean-up—such as the consolidated general records disposition schedules and destruction authorization forms—are available on the ODL Records Management page.

For agency-specific schedules or assistance, please contact records@libraries.ok.gov.
