Promoting Health and Early Literacy
If your library hosts a Story Trail, this is your reminder to apply for a special grant. In partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), ODL is giving a limited number of applicants the chance to refresh their trails with two engaging titles.
After grant recipients display their new children's books, they will host a program promoting the Story Trail, sparking conversations about health literacy, and documenting community engagement to share with ODL. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity before the registration window closes.
Today is the deadline! Fill out a short survey and secure your spot.

Upgrade Your Library's Technology!
ODL is still offering technology grants of up to $10,000 for Oklahoma public libraries and systems! Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), these grants are designed to help libraries meet evolving needs and foster STEAM learning in their communities.
Participating libraries can use these funds not only to purchase essential tech tools but also to create STEAM learning spaces where customers can explore innovations like virtual reality, 3D printers, and more!
Visit SAM.gov to set up your library's Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) for free before applying. In line with IMLS priorities, preference will be given to rural libraries that are located at least five miles from an urbanized area and serve populations of 25,000 or less.
Apply by Friday, May 16 to level up your library’s tech!

Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes a highly anticipated library program. Statewide Summer Reading 2025, themed Color Our World, invites young families to make learning fun through early literacy activities. Libraries are gearing up for a season of discovery—and excitement is growing!
The Statewide Summer Reading Program is sponsored by IMLS, ODL, and local libraries. This year’s program also benefits from partnerships with organizations like Hunger Free Oklahoma, which works to improve food access for families, and the Oklahoma City Zoo's Read for Adventure program. Whether through creative projects or fun reading challenges, library staff are prepared to help children build strong learning habits that will carry them into the next school year and beyond.
If you have questions about this program or want to receive updates, email Trisha.Hutcherson@libraries.ok.gov. Visit our website to learn how our Youth Services team works with the Collaborative Summer Library Program and other local partners to help libraries fight the "summer slide."
