The Moments That Made US Print-On-Demand Exhibition was developed through a multi-state collaboration that adapted the acclaimed Moments That Made US exhibition created by History Colorado. In Oklahoma, the initiative is organized by the Oklahoma Historical Society and made available to institutions statewide in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
As part of America250, Oklahoma libraries, museums, and civic organizations play a vital role in ensuring that communities across the state can take part in commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary. By hosting the exhibition, these institutions create opportunities for residents to explore the stories, ideas, and moments that continue to shape America.
This initiative reflects the enduring importance of libraries, museums, and cultural institutions as trusted, accessible community spaces that connect people with history, expand access to knowledge, and foster civic engagement.

Daughters of Daring: Hollywood Cowgirl Stunt Women book discussion with author Chris Enss |
|
Section 17
|
On Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m., the Pioneer Woman Museum and Statue is pleased to host a book discussion with author Chris Enss.
Enss will share untold stories of the bold women who rode harder, roped faster, and stole the spotlight in early Hollywood, while she discusses her new title, Daughters of Daring: Hollywood Cowgirl Stunt Women (2026, Lyons Press).
Daughters of Daring is the story of more than a dozen trick ropers, bronc busters, and bulldoggers turned actresses who, like the early ranch women and rodeo competitors, had pluck and charm. These women performed their own stunts, riding horses at breakneck speed, firing guns, and capturing outlaws.

Oklahoma proudly claims the longest drivable stretch of Route 66 in the nation, spanning more than 400 miles. This legendary highway helped shape the heart and soul of Oklahoma, and now a new exhibit brings its story to life with a treasure trove of artifacts, from the monumental to the miniature.
The Longest Stretch: Route 66 in Oklahoma exhibit will open at the Oklahoma History Center on Saturday, May 23.
For 100 years, Route 66 has captured the imagination of the world. Created in 1926, it connected local, state, and national roads into a highway stretching more than 2,000 miles from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California. This effort was part of a broader push to create a nationwide system of highways connecting cities and towns.
