National Register of Historic Places
The National Register is a catalog of the buildings, sites, structures, districts, and objects significant in our past, and the register is in the foundation for all of the SHPO's programs. Listing in the National Register provides recognition, limited protection and, in some cases, financial incentives for these important properties. The SHPO identifies, evaluates, and nominates properties for this special designation. For detailed information, contact Michael Mayes, National Register of Historic Places/historic preservation specialist at 405-522-4479 or michael.mayes@history.ok.gov.

Oklahoma Centennial Farm & Ranch Program

Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory
The Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory is the collection of information the SHPO has compiled on thousands of individual properties throughout the state. Data is collected through various sources, including the SHPO’s comprehensive survey program, through the federal Section 106 review process, or through information submitted by individuals. The level of documentation for each property varies, but provides a baseline for researchers.

Frisco Railroad Depot added to the NRHP
Constructed in 1913, the Frisco Railroad Depot in Clayton, Pushmataha County, facilitated the transportation of goods, services and people to and from Clayton and was integral to the economic development of Clayton. The construction of the depot reflects the continued expansion of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway into the Choctaw Nation. The significance of the property extended until 1958 when passenger rail service ended in Clayton.
