Dear friends,
As the season gives way to the winter, it’s that time of year when we begin to contemplate the closing of one chapter and the opening of another. As hard as it might be to believe, our days in 2021 are quickly slipping away. With that in mind, I would like to encourage you to think of the Oklahoma Historical Society as you plan your end-of-year giving.
Although COVID-19 has impacted our operations here at OHS, we have remained steadfast in vigorously pursuing our mission. Thanks to your generosity, we have continued to provide the same great programming, exhibits, and events that you have come to expect from us. Just this year alone, we have relaunched our Oklahoma history podcast, A Very OK Podcast, and we have greatly expanded the educational content on our website. We partnered with one of the nation’s premier oral history projects, Voices of Oklahoma, and held over 90 events and exhibit openings across the state. We added thousands of newspaper pages, photos, maps, and other original documents to our online repository, The Gateway to Oklahoma History. At the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, we dedicated our new outdoor exhibit, Tip of the Spear, and held our Folklife Festival to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures and people that make up Oklahoma. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
We could not do this work without your generosity. The funding you provide helps us to continue our mission to collect, preserve, and share Oklahoma’s rich and fascinating history. As we get ever closer to January 1st, I would be exceedingly grateful if you would consider the OHS as you are planning your end-of-year giving.
Best wishes,
