SoonerCare members with a high-risk pregnancy may get increased ultrasounds and non-stress tests. If your provider thinks you need the added support, you'll be referred to a Maternal Fetal Medical specialist. Along with your provider, they will determine a plan of care that's best for your pregnancy.
A nurse care manager can give you information on pregnancy-related concerns and issues. They will talk with you throughout your pregnancy and can also help with contraception after your pregnancy. After your child’s birth, the nurse care manager can help enroll your child in SoonerCare.
If you are pregnant and would like to speak with a nurse about your SoonerCare benefits and care coordination, you can call OHCA Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 877-252-6002 or 405-522-7650.
If you have diabetes, SoonerCare is here to help you! You can get free training called diabetes self-management education and support. You get 10 hours of free training during your first year. After that, you can get two hours each year. Some of the training is one-on-one, and some is in groups.
During the training, you will learn how to manage your diabetes better, get more active and eat better. After the training, most people live healthier. They have less hospital visits and a lower risk of kidney, nerve and eye damage.
To get started, ask your provider to contact a covered diabetes self-management program. It's also a good idea to ask your provider about getting a 90-day supply of your maintenance drugs for diabetes. You might also be eligible for a continuous glucose monitor. SoonerCare has many tools to help you live better with diabetes!

Oklahoma ABLE Tech's Device Reutilization Program is working to make improvements. They are updating the criteria for acceptable device donations.
The goal is to ensure that all donations are of high enough quality for use. In the future, the program will now only accept gently used equipment. That will enable more quality equipment to get into the hands of people who need it.
The following donations will no longer be accepted:
- Equipment that is torn, unrepairable, outdated, rusty or in otherwise poor condition
- Liquids of any kind – including dialysis solution and feeding supplements
- Syringes or needles
- Medications
- Opened or partly used supplies
- Mattresses or non-therapeutic pillows/bedding
- Oxygen concentrators, tanks or tubing
Do you have equipment in poor condition or wouldn't be accepted? Consider donating to Medical Supplies Network in Tulsa. They provide medical supplies to underdeveloped countries. Or you can donate to local scrap yards for unrepairable metal equipment.
If you have an item you're not sure about, call 405-967-6010 for clarification. You can also text images of your equipment to 833-751-9128.
For a list of commonly requested equipment, visit the ABLE Tech website.
