Did you know? Smoking can make it harder for your body to use insulin, the medicine that lowers your blood sugar. This can be a problem if you have type 2 diabetes.

SoonerCare can help! We offer two benefits to fight these challenges:

  1. Medications to quit tobacco: These can help you kick the smoking habit for good!
  2. Help managing your diabetes: We can teach you ways to keep your blood sugar in check.

  • 1-3 Months
Folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12
  • 4-6 Months
    Iron, vitamin A, vitamin C

Continue prenatal vitamins while you are breastfeeding or for six months after delivery if you are not breastfeeding.

Prenatal vitamins have different amounts and different kinds of vitamins and minerals. They are important to prevent birth defects, especially in the brain and spinal cord. They help build strong bones, teeth, eyes and skin. They help your baby’s developing blood cells. They may even help you have less morning sickness and have more energy while pregnant!

Ask your health care provider which prenatal vitamin is best for you. For additional information, visit FAQ: Nutrition During Pregnancy. If you have questions about prenatal vitamin coverage, visit the website of your current SoonerCare health plan or call their pharmacy help desk.
