Update Your Information

SoonerCare eligibility reviews are continuing, so it is important to make sure your information is up to date. Members who are still eligible for coverage but do not have their information up to date could also lose their benefits. Please confirm your information and documentation as soon as possible. Some items you may need to update include:

  • Household income
  • Contact information (address, email address, phone number, etc.)
  • Number of people living in your household
  • Social security number(s)
  • Missing documents

It is extremely important to make sure OHCA has the right address for you so we can reach you with important information about your SoonerCare benefits. If you receive a letter or email from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority saying there is missing information from you, please respond right away by updating your account at MySoonerCare.org.

Learn About SoonerSelect

Most SoonerCare members will get their health care services covered in a new way next year – through SoonerSelect health and dental plans. These plans offer services through a network (group) of doctors, dentists, pharmacists, mental health professionals and other service providers. Some plans provide extra services like programs to help you quit smoking and get healthier. Visit OHCA's SoonerSelect web page to learn more about the program and plans. Be sure and check out the FAQ section too.

You can also help shape OHCA's plans for quality improvement regarding to SoonerSelect. Public commenting is now open for the Sooner Select Quality Strategy — you can view the document and submit your comments to Quality@okhca.org

Stop Smoking with These Free Resources

Did you know that 70% of adult smokers want to quit, but only 7% succeed on their own? Quitting can be hard, so let SoonerCare help you quit for good! Use your tobacco cessation benefit that includes FREE medication and assistance from the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline. These resources have been shown to improve quit rates.

Quitting will also help you better manage diabetes. The Centers for Disease Control says that quitting helps your body use insulin better, which can lower your blood sugar levels to your target range. Ask your doctor for a referral for SoonerCare diabetes self-management services

Have You Received a Member Survey?

OHCA has been sending surveys to a sample of SoonerCare members. We are working to make your member experience the best it can be. If you get a survey, there is a link and phone number that lets you take the survey online or by phone. The survey is available in English and Spanish and takes just a few minutes to complete.

Treating Dry, Itchy Skin

I have atopic dermatitis. What should I know about it?

First, understand that lots of people have atopic dermatitis (AD), also known as eczema. Nearly 1 in 4 kids have AD, and most have symptoms before their first birthday. Kids usually outgrow AD, but some adults continue to have it too. Most people have mild symptoms such as:

  • Rashes or small, raised bumps that may leak fluid when scratched
  • Feeling itchy
  • Cracked, dry, sensitive, swollen or scaly skin

Second, know that AD is not contagious. No one can catch AD but having AD can make it easier to get skin infections that can make AD worse. Signs of infection may be oozing, crusting, pus-filled bumps or blisters, or a worsening rash that doesn’t get better with treatment. Talk to your health care provider if you see any of these signs of infection.

Third, learn that there are many effective AD treatments. Some require prescriptions. Others are available over the counter. Still others focus on changing a skin care routine or avoiding things that may make AD worse. Treatments include:

  • Moisturizing
  • Wet wraps
  • Diluted bleach baths (see treatment link above for details)
  • Medications
  • Medications applied to the skin

Talk to your health care provider to learn which treatments are best for you or your child. Contact the SoonerCare Pharmacy Help Desk at 405- 522-6205, option 4, for AD medication questions. Or call toll-free at 800-522-0114, option 4.

New Site for Durable Medical Equipment Donations

Oklahoma ABLE Tech is the provider and collector of gently used durable medical equipment for OHCA's SoonerCare members. They recently announced a new partnership with the Lawton Public Library. The library will serve as a donation site for people to drop off durable medical equipment that is no longer needed.

This is the first donation site in this part of the state. You can drop off equipment during library hours: Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

The library is located at 110 S.W. 4th Street in Lawton. If you have big items such as a hospital bed, please contact them ahead of time to make sure they have space for it. You can contact the library at 580-581-3450 or by email at libraryhelp@lawtonok.gov.

Visit ABLE Tech’s donation page to see the full list of what you can donate. Or learn of other ways to return medical equipment to OHCA.
