SoonerCare Member Memo

April 2022

Important! - Update Your Account Information and Documentation

PHE

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services temporarily allowed Medicaid members who no longer qualified for Medicaid coverage to continue receiving benefits.

With the PHE predicted to end in the coming months, members who are no longer eligible for SoonerCare will lose their coverage. These members will receive a letter notifying them of the date their coverage will end. They will then receive another notification 45 days before their coverage ends and another one 10 days before.

It is important for all SoonerCare members to make sure all your information is up-to-date as soon as possible. This will help us know if you are still eligible so we can notify you before you lose coverage. Members who are still eligible for coverage but do not have their information up-to-date could also lose their benefits. Therefore, we ask that all members confirm their information and documentation is up-to-date.

Some information that may need to be updated could include:

  • Household income
  • Contact information (address, phone number, etc.)
  • Number of people living in your household
  • Missing documents

If you receive a letter or email from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority saying there is missing information from you, please respond right away by updating your account at mysoonercare.org. If you have any issues updating your account, please call the SoonerCare helpline at 800-987-7767.

Requesting a Call Back

When Coverage Services returns phone calls to fulfill a request, the call can sometimes show up as spam. If you have requested a call back, please make sure spam blocking is turned off on your phone. The phone number that appears will usually be a Colorado or Florida number.

Dental Benefits

Adult dental benefits cover preventive care (dental cleanings and fluoride), restorative care (silver and tooth-colored fillings), full and partial dentures and extractions. View full dental benefits here.

Copays and Cost Sharing

A copay is the fee you pay to a provider or pharmacy at the time you receive a service.

Cost sharing is the monthly limit of total copays you will pay. Cost sharing is not a bill. The cost sharing limit is set at 5% of your total income reported to SoonerCare for all members of the household. Once the household cost sharing limit is reached for the month, your household should not be charged a copay that month. Cost sharing starts over every month.

Family Planning Services

Birth control information and supplies; pap smears, pregnancy tests, tubal ligations and vasectomies are all covered services.

COVID-19 Vaccines

Covid Vax

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says, “A person is up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccination if they have received all recommended doses in the primary series and one booster when eligible.”

Some Oklahomans have found a easy path to get vaccinated for COVID-19 by visiting their local retail pharmacy. Find more information at the links below from the Oklahoma Health Department and CDC.

Spring Medication Reminder

Spring is here! That means severe weather season is also here. Storms can happen quickly which means it is important to have an emergency medication kit ready at all times.

Your kit should include:

  • List of all your medications, including over-the counter medications
  • 3-day supply of medications
  • 3-day supply of medical supplies such as needles, syringes and test strips
  • Copy of your SoonerCare ID card
  • Name and phone number of your doctor and your pharmacy
  • SoonerCare pharmacy help desk phone number: 405-522-6205, option 4 or toll free at 800-522-0114, option 4

Keeping your kit inside your home is best since most medications can be damaged by hot temperatures in your car, garage or storm shelter. If you keep medications in the refrigerator, leave a reminder note on your kit to grab those during a storm as well.

Other emergency supplies are important too! For more information visit Preparation: What to Have in Case of Emergency.

If you have a weather emergency and lose your medications, call the Pharmacy Help Desk.

Information About Dentures

Dental

Immediate Denture: An immediate denture is to be worn temporarily after the teeth have been extracted while the bone and gums heal. Complete healing may take up to 18 months and varies by person.

During healing, the shape and size of the bone and gums will change and may cause the denture to fit poorly. Your dentist may advise a reline during this time to improve comfort and fit. A lab or hard reline is a covered SoonerCare benefit, and is allowed once every three years, but a chairside or soft reline is not a SoonerCare benefit. One immediate denture per jaw is allowed per lifetime.

Complete Denture: A complete denture is made after complete healing of the bone and gums has occurred. It may not be made for 6-18 months after an immediate denture is placed. The longer the waiting time, the better the complete denture will fit. One complete denture is allowed every seven years for members 21 and older.
