A managed care organization (MCO), also called a health plan, is an insurance company responsible for coordinating health care services for Medicaid members. MCOs support members in obtaining needed medical and behavioral healthcare and referrals to social services to promote wellness, prevention and management of chronic disease. OHCA will be switching to working with MCOs beginning in the fall of 2021. Stay tuned as we will notify SoonerCare members when they are able to select which health plan they want.
- We do not send out SoonerCare ID cards but they can be printed from the member portal. If you are certified through DHS, you can also contact them for help with printing a card.
- Always include member ID or case number on all documents being mailed or faxed to SoonerCare or Insure Oklahoma.
If you have a baby or toddler, you may have questions about thumb-sucking, your child’s first dental visit or how and when to clean your child’s teeth. If so, please visit our provider directory to find a SoonerCare provider near you.
A dental provider can help parents understand when children should have their first dental visit, how to prevent early childhood caries, when to expect changes from primary to permanent teeth, proper brushing and flossing techniques, thumb-sucking, choosing the right mouth protector, and teaching children to say no to tobacco.
Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and a healthy smile is important to a child’s self-esteem. With proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong.

Smokeless tobacco is extremely addictive. According to stopswithme.com, holding an average sized dip in your mouth for 30 minutes delivers as much nicotine as three cigarettes. It also contains three times the amount of nicotine found in a cigarette.
As a SoonerCare member, SoonerCare covers all FDA-approved medications to help you quit all types of tobacco. These do not count against your six-prescription limit per month. Talk to your SoonerCare provider about quitting tobacco now!
