Did you know?
Making sure your children get their immunizations is one of the most important things you can do to protect their health, as well as the health of their friends and your community.
Immunizations are effective in protecting those we love from potentially life-threatening diseases. Immunizations decrease the chance of infections and outbreaks in schools and communities because more people have developed immunity and are protected.
Please talk to your child's doctor about immunizations that are appropriate for his or her age. Also, be sure to ask if your child is up-to-date and when their next shots are due. If they aren't current, please make appointments to get them.

Children are back-to-school which means their chances for catching lice increases. But, don't worry. SoonerCare is here to help.
SoonerCare covers over-the-counter, or OTC, head lice products including permethrin topical 1% liquid, but members still need a prescription for the OTC products to be covered. Prescription products are also covered but may need special approval. Correct treatment helps to reduce the chance of spreading head lice to others. Remember to follow all instructions on the package label for the treatment to be effective.
Along with treating your family, there are steps you can
take to help get rid of head lice in your home. This includes washing bedding,
stuffed animals, towels and clothing in hot water, and using the high heat
drying cycle. Combs and brushes should also be washed in hot water for at
least five minutes. Be sure to follow up with you doctor about the treatment of
your child’s head lice. More information on head lice symptoms and treatments
can be found here.
Fruit juice for children younger than one year old is now a no-no, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Studies have shown that giving children juice at such a young age is not as healthy as parents may think.
If your children are older, the AAP recommends limiting their juice intake to just a few ounces a day.
Limiting juice helps avoid tooth decay.

Have you been in an accident recently and now you’re receiving mail from us? Below are just a few frequently asked questions and answers to help you understand what to do next.
Q:
Why is SoonerCare contacting me??
A:
SoonerCare has paid for medical care
you received due to a possible accident or injury on the date listed on
the form. Examples would include a motor vehicle accident or assault. We are following up to see if there might be
another party that should have paid for the services.
This also applies if you are seeking money for damages due to malpractice or faulty
products.
If you are still unsure why you received the questionnaire, contact us at 405-522-6205 or toll free at 800-522-0114, option 7, for
Third Party Liability.
Q:
Why do I have to complete the form? Why can't I just call with
the information?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot take information over the
phone.
When you complete the form and mail it back, it is reviewed and
forwarded to someone who will complete the investigation. If no
further investigation is needed, the form is scanned and filed. In both cases, we need the physical documentation to complete the
investigation.
However,
if you have questions or need assistance filling out the form, please contact
us at 405-522-6205 or toll free at 800-522-0114, option 7, for Third Party
Liability.
Q:
The form says that if I do not respond in 10 days, I could lose my
benefits. I just received it and there is no time to return it in 10
days! Now what?
A: We understand the mail may get
delayed and you may not have time to get it mailed back within the 10
days.
Don't worry, still complete the form and return it in the
postage-paid envelope as soon as possible. If you have access to a fax machine,
you can also fax it to 405-530-3478.
Q.
Why are you asking if I have other insurance?
A: SoonerCare is the payer
of last resort. Because of this, we need to know whether or not you are covered by any other
insurance. Examples include Medicare supplement, Tricare, cancer policy or
any commercial health insurance policy.
