Former Governor Brad Henry Calls on Legislators to Unite and Vote for Budget Bill

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – Former Governor Brad Henry today issued the following statement urging members of Oklahoma Legislature to set aside political differences and vote for House Bill 1054X:

 

“House Bill 1054X provides a way to help fill the state’s budget hole for the current fiscal year as well as put Oklahoma on a more stable budget path. This bill allows our state to address the funding of core state services going forward. And it provides much-needed pay raises for our public school teachers and includes pay raises for our hard-working state employees, most of whom haven’t had a pay increase since the time I was governor.

“I’m a proud Democrat, but I’m speaking today as a fellow Oklahoman. It’s time for Democrats and Republicans to come together to solve this budget challenge. I’m asking our state representatives and senators to vote yes on HB 1054X. Passage of this measure will move our state forward.”
