FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Despite Sequestration, Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) to Continue Serving Oklahomans

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK  (February 27, 2013) - With federal sequestration budget cuts set to take effect on March 1, 2013, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) is informing the public that business will continue as usual for OESC customers until further notice.  Unemployment claims and benefit payments will still be processed, and there will be no reduction at this time in the services provided through local workforce centers, the unemployment call centers and OESC online resources.

It’s important to note that unemployment benefit claimants should continue to file their weekly claims as they have in the past.

OESC will update the public about any future changes to OESC services through our call centers, media releases and the OESC website at http://oesc.ok.gov.  For more information, please contact OESC Public Information Officer John Carpenter at (405) 557-5469 or john.carpenter@oesc.state.ok.us.

About OESC – The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission is Oklahoma’s state workforce agency.  OESC provides unemployment compensation to support unemployed workers and their communities; matches jobs and workers to benefit local labor markets; prepares a skilled workforce to meet employers’ needs; and gathers, analyzes and disseminates information about the labor force to improve local economic decisions.
